Cramps Due to Nutritional Deficiencies

The muscle cramps they are contractions that not we moderate our will, cause pain, which may occur for multiple reasons, including by excessive work of a muscle resulting in exhaustion, heat, for nervous diseases, or underserved cause such as the cramps by nutritional deficiencies.

Nutrient deficit cramps arise because there is a electrolyte imbalance that may be due its excessive loss, for example in the sweating, or because they are missing certain vitamins they strengthen and maintain the muscle structure in terms.

The main minerals involved in the development of an electric shock are the sodium, magnesium, calcium and potassium. As to the latter, when exists a hypokalemia or hypokalemia, an involuntary contraction of the muscles and presented the painful cramps.

The main reason that potassium deficiency causes a cramp is alterations in electrical membrane potentials that fail to establish an appropriate balance to determine the resting or action.

Calcium is involved in the transmission of the nerve impulse that later produces muscle contraction, therefore, a deficit of this mineral can cause the absence of muscle relaxation and produce an electric shock.

Similarly happens with magnesium, which should be kept in proper balance with calcium, sodium and potassium to the neuromuscular system to operate properly and to relax when necessary to avoid cramps so feared.

Sodium is also greatly involved in the determination of membrane potentials, therefore a hyponatremia caused by excessive loss of sodium from sweat can cause muscle pains and, even a cramp.

With respect to vitamins, these help to prevent situations of fatigue and exhaustion that can cause an electric shock, therefore, we must not forget the inclusion, as part of a varied diet, from vitamin B1 and B3 that you are involved in the metabolism of nutrients offering energy fuel to our body for each movement.

In addition, the Vitamin D contributes to homeostasis of calcium, so it can not be absent as the Vitamin C due to its strong antioxidant action.

While there are multiple metabolic factors, as well as diseases or other disorders that can cause a deficit of vitamins or minerals, it is always advisable to take a balanced diet that includes a variety of nutrients as a correct hydration and periods of breaks adequate to reduce the chances of developing cramps.
